VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteering at Waterford is a fulfilling way to be involved in your child’s education. Your participation enriches the experience at Waterford for you, your children, and others. Below is a list of opportunities to become involved:

Waterford Family Brunch (End of August)

The Waterford Brunch serves as the opening gathering for all families. Students, parents and teachers gather together, meet new families, and their class representatives. Volunteers assist at front tables to welcome, assist with paperwork, and distribute nametags.

Waterford Auction Gala (Winter 2010)

Volunteers are needed to help plan the event and location, donate items for the silent and live auctions, drawing ticket sales, catalogue preparation and delivery, and display/setup of the silent auction.

Golf Tournament (May)

The annual Waterford Classic is a four person scramble held at Thanksgiving Point. Volunteers help in organizing and producing this popular event and fundraiser. On the day of the event, volunteers assist players and guests as needed.

Spring Field Day (May 15, 2009)

Spring Field Day is filled with relays, sporting events, and crafts. Volunteers assist with children and teachers to make this day special.

Spring Country Fair (May 15, 2009)

Crafts, homemade goods, games, face painting, and fun make this day something all families look forward to. Volunteers are needed to serve on the committee to plan and host this event. Volunteers are needed on the day of the event as well.

Mothers’ Day (October)

Mothers attend school this day to get a glimpse into their child’s day. Volunteers serve on the committee to plan and host this event.

Fathers’ Day (February)

Fathers are welcome this day to attend Waterford with their children. Volunteers serve on the committee to plan and host this event.

Grandparents’ Day LS & MS/US (separate days) (December)

Grandparents are invited to experience a day at Waterford with their grandchildren. Volunteers serve on the committee to plan and host this event.

Winter and Spring Bookfairs (December and May)

Produced by the Library Committee, this event allows students and parents to enjoy shopping for books in their own school. Stroll through tables of books or sit and enjoy a pastry as you thumb through favorite reads. Volunteers are needed at to assist shoppers, cashier, organized books, and the set-up and clean-up of the Fair.

School Library Volunteer
Volunteers support the Libraries by shelving books, organizing, and assisting with other Library projects. (One hour per week)
Parent Gatherings

Following concerts in the Concert Hall, parents and students are welcome to socialize and enjoy refreshments as they reflect on the performances. Volunteers assist with hosting, table decorations, greeting and cleanup.

School Plays/Nutcracker

Volunteers work with the Director in preparing and producing plays. There are separate plays for Lower, Middle and Upper school so make sure to designate which play you prefer to help out with.

Community Service

Assist in planning and organizing family community service activities. Volunteers also are needed to assist the student leadership in their community service programs by collecting and distributing items of need.

School Photo Day (September)

Assist students and teachers.

Uniform Exchange (May)

Volunteers are present during the Exchange to keep it organized and to be of assistance to parents and students.

Teacher Appreciation Lunch (May)

Serve on the committee to plan and host this event.

Class Representative

Class Representatives are in a leadership role at the school and act as a liaison between the class, parents and the school. Representatives are assigned in May of the prior year. Please sign-up if you are interested in being considered for this position.
