COLLEGE COUNSELING

The college search and application process may be one of the most exciting and anxious times in your life as a student. It is a time of change. College will be a time to stretch yourself, and also to continue the important learning and development you’ve begun here at Waterford. Choosing a college will probably be one of the first big decisions you make on your own, and it will have a great effect on the rest of your life.

Keep a couple of things in mind as you explore your options:
1.There is no perfect college, but there are many excellent colleges that will be a good match for you.
2.Listen to your parents and your peers, but most of all, LISTEN TO YOURSELF. You are the one that will be studying at the college for four years, and you will probably be paying off loans at the end of four years. Make sure it is a place where you really want to be. And make sure you’ve considered your options well. This is no time to make a rash decision.
3.Think of the search process as a large research project. But this one will have impact for years to come. Use the people around you for advice as well.
We wish you all an exciting and successful college search. Use this website as a reference, but be sure to get to know you college counselor well also; he or she can provide more specific direction and advice. Our doors are open and students and parents should feel free to meet with or call a college counselor anytime.
We are pleased to be able to offer Waterford parents and students ideas and information over the internet, as well as a link to the Naviance Family Connection that Juniors and Seniors will be using to communicate with college counselors, and to other sites we have found useful.
