When students come to Waterford, they never plan to leave. As they advance in years and classes, they add their touch to the rich traditions of those whose pictures hang in the corridors and hallways. For all, Commencement comes quickly, too quickly. At these exercises the tributes are warm, sincere and well-deserved, the remarks are thoughtful; each graduating student is recognized, and honored. Department Awards herald the outstanding Upper School contributor in each discipline. The choral and instrumental music is stirring; the pomp is not overstated. For the student body, it is a dramatic conclusion to the year. For the Seniors, it is their capstone and their Commencement, all in one.

The cycle is always the same. Each year Waterford Seniors go forward enrolling at the finest colleges and universities in the country. They live and study abroad. They come back to visit, to share their new knowledge. They know opportunity; they embrace it. They have been immersed in scholarship and held tightly to a standard that demands the best they have to give. They do not leave that behind. It goes with them, as does all they have taken in. All they have learned.
